I just finished watching the first two episodes of the latest season of the show (Minneapolis and Seattle auditions). I really pity the judges Simon, Paula and Randy. I can’t blame them for being so impatient with people who just don’t take the auditions seriously.
You won’t believe how many times I turned down the volume of my computer speakers because I can’t stand the horrible voices. Naturally, the worst singers manage to get on TV so that the better singers look like gems in comparison.
What I don’t understand is how so many people can believe with all their heart that they can win the competition. First of all, there have been five seasons of the show. You would think that they would have known the standard and expectations already. Secondly, so many people want to be a winner, yet they don’t take any vocal training or classes.
Thirdly, I see so many parents and friends lying to the contestants, either in denial or not wanting to hurt their feelings. We all see the broken dreams and crushed hearts when they come out of the audition room crying. Wouldn’t it hurt less if you would have told them the truth that they can’t sing, rather than supporting them and letting them get hurt on national television?
Anyway, it makes for great entertainment. I can’t wait for the next episode.
