Help! My website is about to exceed the server bandwidth!
My post on German and Chinese culture brought in 50000 unique readers in the past 1 week (because it got StumbledUpon, Digged, Thoofed, Dugg, Puked, Vomited, Delicioused, Yahood and don’t know what else), and my web hosting can’t handle the amount of traffic
Already used 42GB/50GB… what should I do?
1) Disable the post and sacrifice all the incoming readers (and ad income)
2) Purchase additional bandwidth at cutthroat prices (I estimate I need to pay around RM100 for enough to make it to the end of the month)
3) Move the photos offsite (either Google Photos or Flickr).
How? What should I do?
I’m actually scared of web traffic now
Update: I have already done option 3, and I hope my bandwidth can last to the end of the month! *fingers crossed*
But if anyone has a better suggestion please let me know. I’m afraid I’ll exceed bandwidth at Google, then I’m totally in deep s**t.

I wish I can have more traffic !! Wah 50000 unique users !!!
Adino: Probably 99.99% won’t ever come back again, and it’s eating up my bandwidth like crazy

No ideas right now, but make sure you have a backup of your blog
Adino: Don’t know good or cursed

Quick! SOS to Lilian! She might know how to get you out of this.
Adino: Good idea. If my idea of using Google Web Share doesn’t work then I’ll look for her (but dunno she will layan or not since she’s so busy).

Now you’ve learned your lesson! next time, post anything that are worthy of diggs, stumbles and what-nots at the end of the month so that your bandwidth will be reset in a few days, LOL.
Good luck!
Adino: Sigh… I never expected this kind of traffic. I will remember this next time.

Adino: No la, you guys are always welcome. Please don’t stay off my blog

This is always the reason why many of the links that have the chance to be featured in the front page of Digg is unreachable. Never underestimate your contents.
Adino: I’m learning this the hard way… but it’s a ‘good’ problem

wuah! you’re so sexcessful! you’re the pro-blogger liao!
Adino: No la, can’t consider myself pro-blogger when I didn’t even write the content for that post in the first place. I just posted something I got in my email.

I always have my photo elsewhere.
It doesn’t make much sense to put the photo together
Will exceed bandwidth in no time
Adino: I will do that from now onwards

Try Amazon S3 for pretty cheap metered space.
50G would be about $10 (US)
Good luck and thanks for the graphic design.
Adino: Thanks for the tip!

Good grief!
Good headache to have.
Go find a new host.
Try Flexihostings
My host. Give me credits.
Aha.
Adino: Thanks for the tip
From what you described to me (a wonderful testimonial by the way) I’ll seriously consider Flexihostings when my contract ends (hear that Exabytes?)

i suggest you use gzip compression on your webserver ( if you have access to it) or you try to activate the zlib support in php: http://www.google.de/search?hl=de&q=php+zlib+support&btnG=Google-Suche&meta=
these are some hints. Good Luck
btw: i would not cut down the ads, buy an additional bandwith package instead
Adino: Thanks for the hint! I never knew what the gzip option was for… I’ll go check it out.
