Yesterday in the news, two Malaysian bloggers (Jeff Ooi’s Screenshots and Rocky Bru) are being sued for defamation by a local newspaper, the New Straits Times.
The two bloggers allegedly wrote a blog post exposing how the paper’s editor had allegedly plagiarized the work of an American writer.
I promised not to talk about politics in this blog, but I had to mention this case because I think this case sets a dangerous precedence. This could pave a way for government censorship in Malaysian blogs.
