I’ve come to the conclusion that car alarms don’t work.

The reason is simple. Nobody pays any attention to them any more because of the high number of false alarms.

Adding to that are some of the funny car alarms that you hear every day. Forgive me if I happen to describe your car alarm.

Funny car alarms:

1) El-cheapo alarm like my car the Proton Wii (ra). Nobody pays any attention if this goes off because you hear this every day. If you didn’t hear it today, it’s because you’re so used to hearing it that you don’t take any notice any more.

Why do you hear it so often? Because of the super user-friendly design of the key, where you can’t tell which button opens the door and which one triggers the alarm. The “wonderful key” where you can trigger the alarm if your key is in your pocket and something hits your leg.

2) Video game alarm.

We’ve all heard this (especially during thunderstorms).

Bee boo bee boo bee boo
POOoooot, POOooooot
Keee keee keee keee
Mau mau mau mau
Nee nooh nee nooh nee nooh
(Repeat)

It sounds like your car is some sort of arcade machine with all those sound effects. I almost expect to hear the 1Up! sound effect sometimes.

3) Paranoid alarms

Some of the more expensive cars come with alarms that says “You are standing to close to the vehicle! Walk away right now!”.

“Don’t come any closer! This car is protected by Tai Kor Alarm systems!”

“Uhh.. pretty please!?”

“OK brader… actually I’m not worth that much money… I don’t have second hand value hehe…”

“Please don’t do that… it hurts. It feels pain Ow! Ouch ouch ouch!”

“Sob sob… I feel violated…. Someone forcefully… entered… into me… I feel so dirty. I can never be with another man again ”

What they should do is come up with a car alarm that says:

“Are you EBay account number 84671? Are you Sam Witwicky?”

Then turn on some scary flashing lights in the car (like some holograph going to activate).

Play some eerie music…

Then… as the climax, put some transforming sound effects.

I guarantee the car thief will run away.
