With the many left overs tin mines, some farmers rears white and brown ducks. Bird sanctuary park can be quite interesting. Maybe white water rafting is out but there is a beautiful waterfall near Sungai Itek. For food, gosh the tim sum and roti ayam, what can I say? I think Penang lost to this. I love Penang and in bound trips to other states is another joy for us to discover our own country. And it is safer traveling within. Enjoy and have fun! I would recommend Sunway Hotel at New Lane which is located at the heart of Georgetown (convenient for Rachel's nap/rest). Gurney Drive in the evening shouldn't be too hot for Rachel if you are thinking of letting her experience the beach (I think not necessary to drive all the way up to the famed beaches).
