It’s quite late (or early) depending on how you look at it.
The people of Malaysia have placed their votes, and the wind of change has swept across the land upsetting everything in its path.
God Is Great.
For my foreign readers, Malaysia has a parliamentary system similar to the British system. And yesterday, the impossible happened.
The opposition managed to win more than 1/3rd of the seats in parliament, which would check whimsical amendments to our country’s constitution. At the same time, they have been elected as the local governments for several states.
Everyone please remember to stay calm and keep a cool head. Don’t take the law into your own hands. Don’t participate in any victory parades. Don’t spread rumours.
Let’s keep praying:
- For a smooth transition of state governments, that there will be co-operation. That there won’t be undesirable acts by the outgoing state governments, and for past injustice to be made right.
- For peace across the land.
- That the nation will look forward to a new beginning. That there won’t be finger pointing. That there will be a change of mindset in the ruling coalition.
- That justice will be upheld in every area of government.
- For true co-operation between opposition parties, instead of a ‘marriage of convenience’ during election campaigns.
Change is here. Let’s make the best of this opportunity.

Yes, we should not stop praying even though the change has begun. Prayer works miracles.
Adino: I agree!

Pray that the new state govt would be able to unearth the dirt accumulated by the old state govt and expose them. We need to prosecute crooked politicians and councillors who have drained the coffers. This will be the beginning of an anti-corruption exercise. This would be my expectation to the states now taken over by the opposition parties.
The cancer of corruption must be treated and the opposition parties have been mandated to get the job done.
Adino: I can’t wait for things to be made right! However… some drama seems to be unfolding in UMNO. Why does Malaysiakini free access have to end today? So much more to read!

I’m really happy about the new change in goverment. The results of the elections shows that we Malaysians are no longer simply single-minded about trusting our political parties. BN had their chance for 50 years. With the lack of the 2/3rd majority, no more willy-nilly law makers. Thank God, the Opposition will give a real loud voice now.
Good luck for the future! Personally, I’m just hoping that the nice green lung hill in my residential are won’t turn into brown ‘botak’ by end of next year.
Adino: I’m hoping they can do something about those tolls, or is that asking too much?

Hopefully those big fellas understand who’s the BOSS now.
Adino: Yes… the rakyat are the boss.
