Oh No, What Have You Done Now?

Posted November 20th @ 8:28 am by Adino

It’s kind of unfortunate for me. Just when I wanted to start writing paid posts again, Google came along and took away all our PageRank.

When this happened, there were basically three things we could do:

1) Give in to Google. Remove all text link ads, sponsored posts, and add nofollow tags to all outgoing links.
2) Continue in our dark and wicked ways
3) Wait and see what happens

I know some bloggers have taken the wise choice of complying with Google’s rules.

Personally I think if you make most of your income from AdSense then it would be wise for you to maintain a good standing with Google. If your blog is based on a specific niche topic then you need to make sure you don’t lose your position in the search engine results page (SERP).

I just feel very unhappy with the way Google is doing this. They could have sent at least a warning email before they decided to take action.

And by manually adjusting website Page Ranks, they have actually made their “algorithm” inconsistent. Not to mention the insecurity. Who knows what they are going to demand next time? Who knows what excuse they will use to reduce PageRank in the future? After all, the terms and conditions are set by them.

Starting from today, you would have seen quite a bit of changes on my blog template. First of all, ads from a certain company are no longer displayed on my blog. Second of all, I am experimenting with alternative advertising options, which is why you will see quite a bit of ads on my sidebars.

I’m testing to see:
1) How effective the click-thru ratios are
2) How will they affect my blog loading performance

Don’t worry, I will remove ads that don’t work on this blog.

Please feedback to me if my blog is not displaying correctly on your browser.

Thanks!

I’m not very fond of ads that show up in the *content* of the blog as links. But I guess I can ignore them since you’re still testing with them.
By the way, I saw one of your posts called “Rodeos and Country Stars” but I can’t access it or find it on your website.

Adino: Good point… it didn’t get any clicks anyway, so I’ve removed them.

The post was actually a paid post, but something happened and I lost the opp :(

The way I see it, this is simply a dark time

Adino: Yeah, but at least PPP is starting to push its own RealRank now. Mine is still rated as N/A as of this morning.
