If you take a look around this blog you will find a lot of photos of myself looking relatively fit and healthy.
In reality, most of those photos are from half a year ago, before my wedding.
Since then I’ve had three signs that I need to lose weight:
1) Clothes feeling tight
My pants used to feel all loose and comfortable. Nowadays they’re so tight I can’t put anything in my pockets anymore.
I used to be able to wear these M size, body hugging shirts and get away with it. Nowadays I look more pregnant than my wife. I recently had to get some XL sized shirts because I didn’t have enough clothes to wear.
2) “Adino have you gained weight?”
Several people have commented on my weight gain. It started off with my mom who was subtly reminding me to go swimming and exercise. Then I met ex-colleagues who asked me this question.
Last week one of my colleagues (who generally restrains from making observations of anyone else’s physical appearances) asked me, “You gained weight is it?”
We Asians don’t say what we think all of the time. When we really say it, you have to know that it has become completely unbearable to hold it in any longer.
3) Crack!
No, not illegal drugs.
Last Friday I put my Nokia phone in my pants pocket as usual. I sat down on the floor and then bent to the right to retrieve something, and my volumnious thighs sat on my Nokia phone and cracked the screen.
. . .
Now, looking at these signs, I decided that it’s high time for me to start exercising again. Time to count calories again. I say “again” because I lost about 10kg 3 years back and now I slowly gained it all again.
“No need la,” some of you might say. “It’s okay, you’re tall,” Poey Chin tells me.
I don’t blame anyone. I have been neglecting exercise in favour of TV. I even ignored a blood test report saying I have borderline cholesterol levels.
I’ll start right after I finish my Cadbury Fruit and Nuts candy.
Any of you dear readers have any tips for me?

Adino: Yeah, that’s what they say to me too

You will lose weight when your baby starts running around and you have to chase after him/her.
Adino: Really? Ohh.. it’s so tempting but I think I’d better start exercise anyway

Pray that Poey Chin will finish her food everytime during this pregnancy. Otherwise you’ll have to finish it for her and increase your weight.
Adino: Yeah, I got smart and now I wait until she confirms she can finish her food, before ordering food for myself.

I agree with pablopabla.

Adino: Yeah… last few weeks I have been over eating a lot.

Hi Adino, if you want to loose weight, you must accept the immediate necessity to do so. Without the insight that you _MUST_ loose weight, no diet will work. What helped me a lot, after being seriously overweight, was a sickness in the beginning of this year. Since March i lost 45 KG. Really. What helped me a lot in achieving this were some strict and non disputable rules:
-no more alcohol.
-no sweets (candy bars, chips etc).
-no mc donald’s, burger king etc.
-only coffee in the morning.
-only raw fruit (apple, pears, peaches, cucumber, carrots, green and red peppers) or salad (with little oil and vinegar) for lunch
-3 slices of bread for dinner, with whatever i want.
-no food when not sitting at a table
-no food at night.
-get a prescription for Xenical.

Adino: Great tips. It’ll take some time to ‘digest’ them
