Since the end of last month, Adino Online has been relegated, kicked and flushed down to Google PR 1.
One. Uno. Yao. Satu. Neng.
Google has found a new lover overnight and I am left behind waiting for him to call after a one night stand.
I feel used, and I hate it that I’m on the verge of begging for my PR to be reinstated to a measly three.
What does someone have to do to get some PR around here? Sometimes I feel that it’s all a gamble, which is why I put an illustration using a deck of playing cards. The odds seem to be stacked against me.
Mine is not the only website who kena (was hit with) this corrective action (a.k.a. smacked). Apparently Google is making an example of those who were selling text links. However, my dear readers know that I have not (successfully) sold any text links on my blog.
Wanting to do something and successfully doing it are two completely different things. For example, I always say that I want to rob a bank (who hasn’t?), but would it be right for me to be arrested if I didn’t actually do anything?
My blog started out with a Google PR 4, and six months ago it went down to 3 (boring details here so you may skip to the next paragraph if you want). I initially thought that it was because of all the sponsored posts I was doing, and I started being really selective with my sponsored posts. Could you readers even remember the last time I did one?
I thought I was doing things the right way.
I know I left comments at your blogs before, that blogging should not be about making money. To me this isn’t (all) about losing blogging income.
I feel like I have somehow been demoted. Like my voice has been diminished. If my blog was an English Premier League team I’d be sacked by now.
I can imagine the comments starting to come in now. “You deserve it”, “Who’s using who?”, “I hate dogs”, “Face the music”, and such. All I have to say is… I just need to get this out. It’s my writing therapy. Write about it, then forget about it.
Oh well, I guess in a strange way I can now say that my blog is Number One (from the bottom). There’s nowhere else to go from here but up.
That, and I’m hoping PPP et al will move away from using Google PR for classification.
In the mean time I will have to be a frugal beagle.
P/S: Has anyone appealed against the Google PR adjustment? Where do I do that?
P/P/S: I apologize for the corny blog post title.
P/P/P/S: How many of you think that the Frugal Beagle would be a great name for a money-saving dog blog?

I got relegated as well but I don’t really care. I still read your blog and as far as I am concerned, you are original and you should remain that way. Don’t be influenced by Google.
Adino: Thanks Pablo for your encouragement. Just ranting a bit, that’s all. I will continue doing what I have been doing.

i been relegated too. but i don’t really care any more..immune to google oledi..basically they r a big ad agency n they control PR. so they got to protect their own self interests
Adino: Yeah, I guess if I were Google I would want to protect my own interests too. I know… it’s all about business out there.

Adino: Hehe… I’m not the only one. You have quite a lot of original content too, especially those interesting stories

This whole PR problem is persistent recently, so maybe it’s not because you’ve done something wrong… Of course PageRank can mean life or death for some websites, but don’t value it too much.
Here’s an article to something that talks about the recent PageRank drops (You said I shouldn’t add links, so I’m doing this implicitly)
blogoscoped [dot com] [slash] archive/2007-10-24-n36.html
Adino: Thanks I’ll go check it out. What a clever way to add the link
You can actually put links in comments, but there’s a risk of it being caught by the Akismet spam filter.

I was dropped from PR4 to PR2
I guess I sorta just forget about it
Adino: At least you have PR2 la… I only have one. One tiny single PR.
Btw how do I join your WarBook alliance ah? My tiny kingdom feels so naked.

Google still doing the PR exercise ? I thought Google has already adjusted a lot of sites last month ?
Adino: Yeah, this happened last month, but I could only blog about it now.

But…but…. I love beagles! They are so cute and cuddly and adorable…. and I will still read your blog!
Adino: Yeah, beagles are cute. It’s their howl I can’t stand hehe..

i also dunno how google pr system works; my old blog stayed the same but my new one got a promotion. *scratch head*
Adino: It’s a complete mystery and lots of speculation, but Google did confirm a PR cut for those selling text links. Problem is, I didn’t sell any.
