Beng is right - too much of a sedantary lifestyle makes one "lazy" & making that 1st step to exercise is the most difficult. however, once you get started, the next sessions become easier but you need to be consistent to reap maximum benefits. exercising 3 times a week is barely the minimum but it's a good start.

believe me, regular exercise improves your stamina for work & zest for life.

all the best!

Adino: Thanks for the tips, doc!

blek...
i am feeling the same way too..
by 9 pm everyday i am already like half dead..
swimming was my favourite..
but now i hardly can go on for 2 lap...
i am like trying to go back for badminton..
last whole week was trying to catch up with the new juniors during orientation... and i hardly can control them..either they are too hyper... or i am lack of energy..LOL

Adino: I don't think you can control them... last time when you were junior, you also didn't like senior to control right?

Save your energy for other things.

Love your story. It's sadly true and happening to lots of us and we wonder why. I went through that especially when the kids are small, and worse if both husband and wife are working and you don't have a maid. It's amazing how each day passes so fast and if you don't schedule any activities into your tight schedule and be excited about it, you will slowly, slowly become uninterested and tired. My husband & I had to deliberately discipline ourselves. Our children have grown up now but we are still playing lots of badminton. I play 3-4x a week. I find I have more stamnina now than before. Hope you don't give up exercising. Get excited about it. Find some friends who have the same interest. And of course food plays a very important role in your energy level.

Adino: Thanks for your advice Mary. I'm thinking of picking up bowling. It's not a cardio kind of exercise, but I still get a good workout from bowling.

Guess what, most of my aunts who are 50 and above are stronger than me. I get exhausted faster than them. Btw, all of them are staying in the kampung and their mode of traveling is basically by walking and by walking, it is already an exercise. Guess it's just our diet and lifestyle.

Adino: I think so too. I also see many older than me, and still fitter and full of energy.

I think it is a natural process. Our metabolism rate is decreasing... :p

Adino: Sometimes it's a bit sad, to think that we can never go back to the days of our youth.

Funny, I had the same thought a few days ago. A friend brought his 3-year-old daughter to a party and she was literally jumping the whole time. If we said, "go help me get a sandwich," she would literally skip and hop to the sandwich counter and skip/hop all the way back. This went on all day!!

Needless to say, I was flabbergasted, shocked, horrified.

What's happened to us? How come we don't skip around anymore? How did we lost all that exuberant energy?

Adino: Someone needs to discover the secret of the elixir of youth. Maybe it comes from boundless optimism and innocence haha.
