congrats on having an iMac.. i’m using it at the office.. the white Intel iMac (not the aluminium one)..actually, you can use normal PC mouse if u always accidentally press the side button and with Mac OS X, u can use right click! I prefer using the Finder (in windows u call it Windows Explorer) rather than windows explorer because you can use the highlighter (right click or command+click at any folder) u can see some small color dots… with this, u can highlight any folder u r working on… it simple.. I wish I can have one iMac at home… anyway, learning Mac is easy.. just take your time… the Mac OS X also a rock solid application… seldom hang not like windows…

Adino: I wish I can use a Mac at work too! I might disable the squeeze function if it gets too annoying.

Welcome to the family of Mac users! I’ve been using Apple…since late 80′s
I agree with you about the low threat of virus infections…till today my Mac has not been knocked out by any virus !!!

there are driver issues when running like that. Worse still latency issues. I really considered all that. To be able to reach the Mac world I need a huge sum to get the softwares and spend huge amounts of time relearning. Sigh.

Adino: It’s not running virtual PC mode wor… it’s installing a separate partition so you will be booting up with Windows. Plus the iMac is built on Intel platform so drivers shouldn’t be a problem. Or… you could use Windows machine for work, and Mac machine for play!

Too bad my favorite audio softwares like sibelius and cakewalk is impossible to have on a MAC sigh. Also the most inportant program Libronix is also impossible on a MAC. WHY!!!! If not I would be having my mac by now instead of being stuck with silly vista. Adino, you are so lucky

Adino: Like I said, you can actually install a partition of XP and run your software from there

Dreamed of owning a Mac since the mid-1990s, but the first computer I ever had was a well-used 486 PC donated by a friend in 1998. It was good enough for word processing and simple email. Slowly I upgraded to a Pentium II PC running at 400MHz and that served its purpose until I could afford to buy an iBook G4 in 2005 for RM3999. Absolutely no regrets! Great to ignore virus warnings all PC users keep sending around Since then I’ve increased the iBook’s RAM to 1.25G and upgraded to a 120G hard drive. Never enough drive capacity these days, especially if you’re working with movie and music files – but external drives do the job and the cost keeps going down! Thanks for the review – gives a good overview of the new iMac. Sounds great for those who want a comfortable-sized screen for video editing!

I used the Macs when I was in University back in 95/96 and they were amazing! Never used them since I left and I think they have changed so much, it needs a new tutorial to get familiar again. If I were to buy one, I will probably go for the MacBook since I already have a desktop at home which serves its purposes well.

Good review! The only thing I don’t like about the new imac is the screen. It’s suppose to be anti-glare but I find the reflections a little annoying. So far, I still heart the older generation iMac G4 flower pot.

Adino: I agree that the screen does reflect, but only when the display is dark. When I’m viewing something with a light background I don’t see any reflections.

Ooh, looks like you’re turning into a Mac user!

Using a new OS always takes some learning. Macs are relatively easy to learn (compared to Unixes), but I’m still not used to the way Macs work.

The design of the exterior case looks amazing, with all the slim and whiteness. Enjoy your Mac!

Adino: I’ve tried using Linux (it was one of the requirements of some of my university courses). I think some versions of Linux are easy to use too, but my main problem was finding the proper drivers for my hardware.

I can’t say I’ve turned into a Mac user… I still use Windows machines at work
