Hey adino, you are not alone. I personally like to follow these personal finance blogs – Get Rich Slowly and The Simple Dollar. I find that the bloggers give excellent, down-to-earth advice that is so much more suited to ordinary folk like us rather than personal finance books. Give it a try, you might like it.

Adino: I read those blogs too, but somehow they are not 100% applicable to us Malaysians.

Hmm… there’s another blogger whom I’ve been following for years. She is so much more kiamsiap than me (and I already consider myself very kiamsiap) that I think sometimes she is ridiculous.

But years after following her blog, she turned out so successful in many ways – her family’s health coverage, her daughters each get $100 a month into their savings account, she is saving up good money towards purchasing a home without taking on any debt at all… I feel quite jealous. Haha.

It’s nice that you’re doing so much reading lately, but do be careful of books that aren’t what they purport to be – there are lot’s of good and bad literature in this world, so try to read critically.

Other than that, I think it’s perfectly alright to be financially careful (without being overly stingy, of course). Try not to set too high a goal or expectation for yourself.

Adino: I don’t set any unrealistic expectations, but even then it’s pretty scary!
